Course Description:
This course explores the wonders of the human nervous system, with a particular focus on the brain. Students gain insight into the fundamental principles of nervous system organization, at anatomical and cellular levels, and learn about the mechanisms underlying the function of this important system. Interactive lectures provide a detailed look at neurons and their activities, key structures in the brain, sensory systems, and brain development. The instructor also examines current research on major brain and nervous system disorders and highlights promising approaches to their treatment.

"Neurobiology, Introduction" has been approved by UCSC for undergraduate credit and as such may be transferable to other universities and colleges. Inquire directly with these other institutions to determine eligibility.
Prerequisite(s):
Previous course work in biology is recommended but not required.
