This is a course for technical and nontechnical professionals who want to establish and build successful high-performance teams using modern practical team-building principles and practices. Participants will learn about the phases of team development, including building trust, running efficient team meetings, developing team synergy, reaching sound decisions as a team, and measuring team success. Students will acquire valuable team-building skills through case studies, exercises, and team-building tools.
Additional topics include the eight attributes of a high-performance team; avoiding the "Abilene Paradox" in team decision making; why teams get stuck; how and when to hold team meetings; managing virtual teams; building trust and open communication; and and establishing synergy in the team environment.
For Online Sections of this course: Online courses are largely self-study with instructor support through threaded discussion groups, email and sometimes scheduled online chats. Some instructors may allow students to pace themselves following the published syllabus, enabling them to accelerate through the material and finish early. However, all students must complete and submit all assignments by the schedule end date. Grades are issued for the entire class approximately two weeks after the scheduled end date.
