Customized Business and Management Certificate

Certificate Contact

Business and Management Department, (408) 861-3805, or e-mail: jahenderson@ucsc-extension.edu.

Program Overview

You can create your own certificate program by combining courses from two subject areas to design a curriculum that meets your unique career goals. You must contact the customized certificate program (CCP) representative to help work out the details of your program.

Your combinations can be drawn from the following programs:

  • Accounting
  • Business Administration
  • Human Resource Management
  • Marketing
  • Personal Financial Planning
  • Project Management
  • Technical Writing and communication

Designing Your Program

There are two ways you can design your CCP:

Option One: Evenly divide your required courses between the subject areas.

Option Two: Take all of the required courses in one subject area and all of the elective courses in the other subject area.

Number of Credit/Hours

A minimum of 160 hours (16 quarter units)is required to complete the Business and Management CCP.

Application Process

You may take up to three courses in a certificate series before requesting a Business and Management CCP. First, contact the CCP representative to plan your course of study and receive a CCP proposal form. Then file a certificate application.

You will be advised whether your course of study has been approved. Final approval of your program is made by the Business and Management Department, UCSC Extension.

In order to be eligible for this certificate, you must (1) complete all course work within three years of filing the application to establish candidacy, and (2) achieve an overall 3.0 grade point average (GPA) for all required and elective courses. In addition, all courses applying toward the certificate must have been successfully completed within five years of the date on which the certificate is issued. Please refer to our Web site, www.ucsc-extension.edu/gpa, for our GPA calculator.
